New Program for Immigrants Who Have Become Canadian Citizens! Recently, Success Skills Centre received funding from the Province of Manitoba to help immigrant professionals and skilled workers, who have become Canadian Citizens, to return to their prior occupations. The Centre applied for this funding because many take jobs unrelated to their previous home country occupations due to financial constraints. The criteria for participation is that the individuals must be unemployed or underemployed.

The Centre is able to take in 100 individuals between now and December 1, 2018. There are 24 possible paid six-week internships, and other potential wage subsidy placements or retraining possibilities. Should you know of someone who fits the above, please share it. For additional information, call at (204)975-5111 and ask for the New Canadian Immigrant Programs.

Success Skills Center’s (SSC) 2012–2013 Year End Performance Report Shows 91.83% Success Rate
Winnipeg, November 13, 2013.

Success  Skills Centre’s 2012–2013 End of Year Report released this week indicates a 91.83% success rate in the organization’s efforts at helping internationally educated professionals and skilled workers to find work in their related occupations.

“This is unprecedented and phenomenal in terms of our results”, said Monika Feist, CEO. “The statistical significance of this is that the Centre’s job placement rates have continued to improve over the years”.

The organization’s success can be attributed to its unique approach to serving immigrants and refugees as well as the effectiveness of its various programs.  These include its Hands-On Practicum (HOP), job placements, mentorship, job search, community outreach and strong relationships with employers and clients.

According to Rany Jeyaratnam, a labour market specialist, “This remarkable achievement speaks to the hard work and ongoing dedication of our staff, and the Manitoba employers’ strong commitment to giving employment opportunities to new immigrants”.

I have learnt new and efficient way of presenting my résumé, cover letter, reference and all other supporting document needed for my job search.
I discovered the importance of soft skills, because this was not emphasized in my cultural background, it’s a new terrain in which I am beginning to explore by applying to volunteer in various service groups.
I also got to meet with people from diverse culture learning from them has been a pleasant experience for me, I have learnt to appreciate beauty in diversity.
In all, Success Skills Centre has made me a better person, I appreciate your effort in assisting immigrants, especially in understanding Canadian work environment.”
