Responding to the Needs of Internationally Educated Immigrants and Refugees Needs

Success Skills Centre has been recognized as a Manitoba pioneer and innovator in promoting and assisting internationally educated Immigrants and refugee in get back to their careers and full-time jobs as quickly as possible. Right from the start, our not-for-profit community-based Centre developed and has continued to deliver unique, gap career programs, employment training modules, internships and work experience placements geared solely to professionals and skilled workers.  The Centre’s unique service models have been designed to save participants precious time, money and grief by helping accelerate the process to get into their trained occupations sooner, rather than years later, or never.

Often we hear from our participants that they are advised to repeat all their training again, or get a Canadian certificate, or to forget and to change occupations, or just take any survival job, all leading to discouragement and disillusionment.   Our Centre fills that vital niche to stop the naysaying, by providing expert advice and guidance from highly qualified career training and labour market specialists, for both short and long term related career outcomes, and help participants tackle credential recognition issues, to obtain related work experience, mentorships and internships. We don’t believe in seeing participants’ talents and experience wasted.  Nor do we like to see government waste so many training dollars when there are better ways of getting talented resources on track.  Immigrants come to Canada in order to work in Manitoba’s high demand jobs, and to establish a new life for themselves and their families, and we want to help them do just that.

Testimonals from Clients

“When I first heard of Success Skills Centre, I did not imagine the immerse impact it will have on my career.  From the great reception at the front desk to the excellent support system from all the Labour Specialists, the overall system in place is wonderful.
I have learnt new and efficient way of presenting my résumé, cover letter, reference and all other supporting document needed for my job search.
I discovered the importance of soft skills, because this was not emphasized in my cultural background, it’s a new terrain in which I am beginning to explore by applying to volunteer in various service groups.
I also got to meet with people from diverse culture learning from them has been a pleasant experience for me, I have learnt to appreciate beauty in diversity.
In all, Success Skills Centre has made me a better person, I appreciate your effort in assisting immigrants, especially in understanding Canadian work environment.”

“When I came to SSC, it was difficult for me to narrow down or tailor my skills to a particular specialization and industry.  The information I gathered throughout the session helped me to understand my skills and the kind of entry level job I should be looking for.  More so, I have stronger understanding of my soft skills and how I can use them.”

“I would like to say a big thank you for the organizers of the two week training at SSC.  The program has been so enlightening and explosive.  The program was well organized and impactful with loads of information that will channel one’s path to great lines. I learnt a lot during this program and I believe the sky is my limit.
I am very optimistic that with the information I got from SSC. I would be able to get my dream job.  Finally I would encourage the staff or SSC to keep up the good job.”
